Dark Theme by Peter MacCalman 2002

Dark Theme was created for the original demo’s for the Evil Dead II project and won the commission to compose a score for the game. However, in the end the project developed in different directions and this actual piece wasn't used in the final score. Recorded by a quintet on downtime during another recording session, it was composed with a much larger ensemble in mind than the five players that perform the piece, more like a 60 strong symphonic orchestra. It also only has the string lines; brass, woodwind and percussion were added on the actual tracks used for the final product. It was written with the opening title of the game in mind; the theme is romantic and dark.
